Who We Are
Launched on November 2, 2022, the Campus Pride Career Connect is a safe space for LGBTQ+ young adults to embark on their career journey and find support from career professionals and employees. The one-stop career engagement portal fosters meaningful, authentic relationships between LGBTQ+ young adults and prospective employers.
Campus Pride Founder, CEO & Executive Director Shane Windmeyer developed the idea for the new platform after several conversations with LGBTQ+ students, specifically trans, nonbinary and queer youth of color, who shared trepidation about applying for certain jobs and the hiring processes. The Career Connect platform creates a safe space for LGBTQ+ young adults to engage with professionals via career prep help, mentorship and one on one relationships - breaking down systemic barriers and opening up doorways to career path opportunities early-on in college.
Careers
Through the online platform, LGBTQ+ students can connect with employees for specific career prep help or as mentors to assist on their career journey; get career prep, job skills, and resources; and find jobs and internships. LGBTQ-friendly employers will use the Career Connect platform to recruit a diverse talent pool of job candidates; connect with upcoming talent early in their college careers to build job skills and readiness; and offer their existing employees volunteer opportunities to get directly involved in helping LGBTQ+ young people as they start their career paths.
The Campus Pride Career Connect platform is free to LGBTQ+ students who are career candidates and any employee or career professional who wishes to provide job prep skills or be a mentor. Companies and Career Centers may also join as paid partners/members to post internships, jobs, resources, host events and more.
